GLASSBORO, NJ – The Montclair State University women’s volleyball team shut out Rowan University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday night.
Montclair State improves to 17-11 overall and 5-2 in the conference. Rowan has an 8-9 overall record and a 4-2 NJAC mark. The Red Hawks won with game scores of 30-20, 30-13 and 30-12.
Middle blocker Kara Burnham (so. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) led MSU with 15 kills, three blocks and a .483 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Devon Johnston (fr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) followed with 14 kills, 14 digs and a .481 hitting percentage. Libero Kristen Ruggieri (fr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) contributed with 19 digs. Setter Raisa Silva (so. Newark, NJ/Newark East Side) added 37 assists.
For the Profs, middle blocker Theresa Pecoraro (sr. Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) totaled seven kills and seven assists. Outside hitter Siobahn Young (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) posted 13 digs and defensive specialist Casey Roselle (fr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) had 11. Setter Chrissy McKay (so. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) chipped in 11 assists.
Rowan hosts Ursinus College on Friday, October 12 at 6 p.m. Montclair State plays in a tri-match at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, October 13. Montclair will face Richard Stockton College at 1:30 p.m. and the U.S. Coast Guard at 3 p.m.
