COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men and women’s indoor track teams opened the 2007 season at the Collegeville Classic on Friday. The men took ninth place overall out of 12 teams, while the women were 11th out of 13 schools. The meet was held at Ursinus College.

Joseph Minch (sr. Yardville, NJ/Bordentown Reg.) finished in second place in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:38.31. He came in eighth place in the 800 meter run in 2:03.00. Nick Tyson (jr. Mount Holly, NJ/Lenape) was fourth in the pole vault with 12’ 11.5” (3.95 meters). The men’s 4x200 meter relay took fifth place (1:39.24), while the 4x400 relay was eighth (3:42.44).

Karen Johnson (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) took fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 34’ 10.25” (10.62 meters). Dannielle Warren (so. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) finished in seventh place in the long jump with 16’ 3.25” (4.96 meters).

Rowan competes next at the John Covert Lehigh Classic in Bethlehem, PA on Saturday, January 27 at noon.
