GLASSBORO, NJ – Midfielder Kaitlyn Florio scored two goals to lead Rowan University over visiting Washington College (MD), 5-1 on Wednesday night.

Florio (so. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) recorded the first two goals of the game. Her first score came at 19:41 when she hit the lower left corner of the net on a pass from forward Karen Patruno (sr. Somerdale, NJ/Paul VI). Florio’s second goal was unassisted at 35:12. Midfielder Shannon Phillips (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) put the Profs up 3-0 at the half. Phillips knocked in a failed clear with just under three minutes remaining.

In the second period, Rowan scored two straight before Washington spoiled the shutout with its lone goal. Patruno scored with a cross from midfielder Emilie Wilson (so. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury). Forward Aimee Yerkes (jr. Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) headed in a pass from midfielder Kaeleigh Brock (jr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus).

Forward Sarah Yarbrough (so. Golden, CO/Arvada West) scored for the Shorewomen with a high shot just outside the box. It was her second goal on the season.

Rowan compiled 26 total shots while Washington took six. Caroline Grier (fr. Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School (DE)) made eight saves in the Shorewomen’s net. In the Profs’ goal, Alicia Mannino (so. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) had one save in her first start.

This weekend, Rowan travels to Michigan to play Alma College on Saturday and Olivet College on Sunday. Both games are at noon.
