PATCHOGUE, NY – The Rowan University men’s soccer team had a 2-0 win over host St. Joseph’s College (LI) on Monday.

The Profs improve to 2-1 on the season while the Golden Eagles drop to 0-3. Rowan jumped out to an early lead when midfielder Peter Malkmus (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) scored at 1:30. Malkmus knocked in a rebound and back Tom Gannon (jr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) picked up the assist.

The Profs’ second goal came at 84:15 when forward Matt Flynn (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) chipped in a feed from midfielder Ryen Garrison (sr. Elmer, NJ/Cumberland Reg.).

Rowan took 23 shots while St. Joseph’s had seven. Goalie Anthony Clemente (sr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) stopped two shots for his second shutout. For the Golden Eagles, Mark Tripi (sr. Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) recorded 15 saves.
