GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s soccer team won 2-1 over visiting William Paterson University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday night.
The Profs improve to 7-4-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference. The Pioneers have an overall record of
5-5 and a 1-3 NJAC mark.
Rowan had a 1-0 lead after the first half. Back Andrew Bergman (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) scored at 34:01 with a high shot outside the 18. Forward Sean Docherty (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) made it 2-0 when he kicked in a punt by goalie Anthony Clemente (sr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) at 55:23.
William Paterson’s goal was scored by midfielder Jason Almedia (so. Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens) at 65:44, his first of the season. Midfielder Eric Osman (so. Franklin, NJ/Franklin) had the assist.
The Pioneers outshot the Profs, 20-11. Clemente ended the game with 10 saves. For William Paterson, goalie Davis Casper (jr. Franklin, NJ/Timothy Christian) made two saves.
Rowan is home again on Monday, October 2 against Wilmington College (DE) at 7:30 p.m.
