GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s volleyball team won its first conference match over William Paterson University, 3-1 on Thursday.
Rowan improves to 3-9 overall and 1-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). William Paterson’s record stands 4-9 overall and it has an 0-3 conference mark.
The Profs won with game scores of 30-28, 29-31, 30-16 and 30-25. Outside hitter Alexis Louie (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) led Rowan with 15 kills, 14 digs and four service aces. Outside hitter Karen Ramirez (fr. Bogota, NJ/Bogota) added 15 kills and 10 digs, while outside hitter Theresa Pecoraro (jr. Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) had 10 kills, 16 digs and four blocks. Setter Chrissy McKay (fr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) totaled 39 assists and eight digs.
For the Pioneers, outside hitter Michelle Banom (jr. North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) posted 14 kills and three blocks. Setter Dana Hansen (jr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) contributed 11 kills, 17 assists and 12 digs. Libero Samantha Reed (fr. Dumont, NJ/Dumont) recorded 20 digs, while outside hitter Tamara Miller (jr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) had 17.
Rowan hosts Kean University in a NJAC game on Tuesday, September 26 at 7 p.m.
