Weist's Goal In Second Overtime Lifts Profs Over Scarlet Raptors

CAMDEN, NJ – Midfielder Jamie Weist scored the winning goal in the second over time for a 2-1 victory over Rutgers-Camden in a conference game on Wednesday night.

Weist (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) knocked in a loose ball after Rutgers-Camden goalie Kristen Cargen (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) had a save. Cargen stopped the shot by forward Jackie Kane (sr. Avenel, NJ/Woodbridge). It was Weist’s second goal on the year.

Rowan is 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). This week, Rowan is ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region and 23rd in the nation. Rutgers-Camden has an overall record of 5-2 and a 1-1 conference mark.

Midfielder Kerry Little (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) tied the score at 70:26 when she connected on a free kick by back Caitlin Toomey (fr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.). Rutgers-Camden had a 1-0 lead after midfielder Tina Mascia (fr. Deptford, NJ/Washington Twp.) scored on a long chip pass at 21:40 from back Julia Jackson (fr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit).

Rowan took 17 shots while Rutgers-Camden had four. Goalie Gabby Ditchey (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) made one save in the Profs’ net. For the Scarlet Raiders, Jayme Gatti (so. Delran, NJ/Delran) and Cargen stopped four and five shots respectively.

Rowan is back at home on Saturday, September 23 against New Jersey City University at 1 p.m.
