SALISBURY, MD – The Rowan University cross country teams started the 2006 season at the Sea Gull Opener on Saturday. The Prof men took fourth place with 110 points out of 11 schools while the women were eighth with 236 points among 11 teams. The meet was held at Salisbury University.

Erik Geisinger (sr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) was the first Prof runner to complete the 8,000 meter course. Geisinger finished in seventh place with a time of 26:26. Mike Rivera (so. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) and James Buinicky (fr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) were 32nd (27:37) and 33rd (27:43) respectively. Also scoring were Eric Thomas (so. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee), 36th (27:49) and Greg Kuczynski (so. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.), 38th (27:57).

The Prof women were led by Laura Blittman (fr. Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) in 14th place. Blittman ran the 6,000 meters in 24:07. Katelyn Sammon (jr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) finished 49th (26:20) while Laura O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) was 61st (27:34). Dana Buffuto (so. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) came in 70th place (29:12) and Andrea Manis (jr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) was 85th (39:00).
