GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team won its sixth straight game with a 6-0 shutout over Cabrini College on Monday night.
The Profs are undefeated with a 6-0 record while the Cavaliers are 4-3 on the season. Rowan had a 2-0 lead after the first half. Forward Karen Patruno (sr. Somerdale, NJ/Paul VI) started the scoring at 27:02 with a pass from midfielder Jenna Balestriere (so. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood). Patruno has four goals this year.
Midfielder Kaitlyn Florio (so. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) had the second goal seven minutes later and back Caitlin Toomey (fr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) assisted. It was Florio’s sixth goal and she leads the team in scoring with 12 points. She was named this week’s New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
In the second half, forward Jackie Kane (sr. Avenel, NJ/Woodbridge) and midfielder Kerry Little (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) scored unassisted goals at 47:18 and 50:18 respectively. The Profs’ fifth score came on an own goal. Midfielder Lindsey Allerton (fr. Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) had the final goal (86:29), her second on the season.
Rowan took 23 total shots while Cabrini had two. Melissa Hall (so. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) was in the Profs’ net in the first half and Gabby Ditchey (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) made two saves in the second period. For the Cavaliers, goalies Lea Conti (jr. Media, PA/Strath Haven) and Aimee Ralph (so. Broomall, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) made six saves apiece.
Rowan returns to its conference schedule at Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, September 20 at 7 p.m.
