NEW YORK, NY – The Rowan University men’s cross country team ran to a fourth place finish at the New York University Invitational on Saturday. The women’s team finished in 16th place. The meet was held at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.
The men’s course was five miles. Co-captain Erik Geisinger (sr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) led the way with a 16th place finish in 27:56. James Buinicky (fr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) ran 28:31 for 31st place. Michael Rivera (so. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) was 33rd with a time of 28:32. Greg Kuczynski (so. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) and Eric Thomas (so. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) rounded out the scoring for the Profs in 64th (29:23) and 70th (29:27), respectively.
The women’s team competed on the 5,000 meter course. Laura Blittman (fr. Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) finished 44th with a time of 21:30. Laura O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) ran 22:45 for 95th place and Katelyn Sammon (jr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) took 103rd with a time of 22:59. 130th place went to Jenn Lippincott (fr. Magnolia, NJ/Gloucester) with a time of 23:37. Therese Jones (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) crossed the finish line in 25:15 for 182nd place.
The Profs’ cross country teams will next compete on Friday, September 29 at Lehigh University in the Paul Short Invitational.
