GLASSBORO, NJ – The New York University men and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated host Rowan University on Saturday. The men’s team recorded a 176-124 victory, and the women’s team won 170-124.

Kevin Baker (jr. Landing, NJ/Roxbury) led the Rowan men’s team with first place finishes in the 100 (1:02.33) and 200 breaststroke (2:15.29), and was second in the 200 individual medley (IM) (2:03.12). Nick Giacopelli (sr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.13. Kevin Wallace (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) came in first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53:48.

Bryan Carlisle (so. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) took first in the one meter and three meter with scores of 267.83 and 284.93, respectively. Jeff Brinberg (sr. Ventnor, NJ/Atlantic City) finished second in both events with scores of 227.25 in the one meter and 234.08 in the three meter.

The women’s 200 medley (1:53.41) and the 400 freestyle relays (3:42.68) recorded victories for the second consecutive meet. The medley relay was comprised of Stephanie McAllister (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.), Samantha King (fr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City), Janina Wojcik (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.), and Alicia Mackleer (so. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest). Christine DiRubbo (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), Aileen Milde (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury), Wojcik, and Mackleer made up the freestyle relay.

Mackleer took first in the 50 freestyle (25.32) and second in the 100 freestyle (55.80). DiRubbo won the 100 freestyle in 55.78 and was second in the 50 freestyle (25.56). King swam to a first place finish in the 200 IM in 2:15.30 and came in second in the 100 (1:10.69) and 200 breaststroke (2:31.76). Caitlin Ayres (sr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) captured first in the 200 Butterfly (2:14.57) and second in the 1000 freestyle (10:56.40).

The Rowan men and women’s teams are 2-1. The Profs’ host Adelphi University, Centre College (KY), and Widener University in the Rowan Cup Races on Saturday, November 18. The first session is at 11 a.m. and the second session is at 5 p.m.
