Rowan Too Much For Philadelphia Biblical, 76-58

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men’s basketball team won 76-58 over Philadelphia Biblical University on Wednesday.

Forward Matt Byrnes (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) led Rowan with 15 points. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Guard Dan Reddan (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.) contributed 13 points and eight rebounds, both career highs. Guard Tim Bowser (sr. Millville, NJ/Millville) came off the bench and had 12 points and three steals in the second half. Forward Rahim Shiver (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) recorded eight rebounds.

Rowan has an overall record of 3-1 while Philadelphia Biblical is 2-2 on the season. For the Crimson Eagles, forward Tom Arthur (so. Forked River, NJ/Lacey Twp.) scored a game-high 20 points and ripped down 11 boards. Guard Chase Byler (sr. Gap, PA/Pequea Valley) added 18 points. Guard Tyler Bull (so. Chambersburg, PA/Shalom Christian Academy) contributed five rebounds and four steals.

In the second half, the score was tied twice before Rowan took the lead for good (45-44) at 14:19. The Profs went on a 12-2 run for a 57-46 advantage at 11:04. Bowser scored five points and Reddan had four. Rowan was up 62-48 at 8:23 following a free throw by Byrnes. The Profs’ largest lead of the game came with 41 seconds remaining after a foul shot by Bowser.

Rowan started the game with a 7-2 run in the first three minutes. Arthur gave the Crimson Eagles the lead (8-7) with a three-pointer at 16:11. The Profs had a six point advantage (16-10) with Byrnes’ three at 12:43. Philadelphia Biblical scored 11 unanswered points in a four minute span to go ahead 21-16. Forward Tim Cook (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) made two foul shots that gave Rowan a 26-25 advantage with 5:37 on the clock. The lead changed after Arthur hit free throws and the Crimson Eagles led 27-26. The Profs then had three straight baskets to go ahead 32-27. Philadelphia Biblical came back with a 9-3 run to lead 36-35 at the intermission. Byler tied the game at 34 (1:02) with a three-pointer and he hit a jumper (0:03).

In the first half, the Crimson Eagles had 12 points apiece from Arthur and Chase. The Profs had four players each with six points.

Next week, Rowan travels to Ramapo College on Wednesday, December 6 for its first conference game of the season at 8 p.m.
