GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men and women’s swimming and diving teams hosted the Rowan Cup Races on Saturday, with visiting teams Widener University, Adelphi University, and Centre College (KY).

In the morning session, the men’s team won the 200 medley relay in 1:41.90. The relay was comprised of Kevin Wallace (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.), Kevin Baker (jr. Landing, NJ/Roxbury), Sam Spracklin (fr. Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) and Stephen Tucker (fr. Pittsgrove, NJ/Sacred Heart). Baker also finished first in the 100 backstroke (56.09) and the 200 freestyle (1:47.81). Wallace came in first in the 200 individual medley (IM) with a time of 2:04.20 and he finished third in the 100 backstroke (58.71). David Shinton (jr. Newark, DE/Newark) swam to a first place finish in the 100 butterfly in 55.95. Andrew Williams (jr. Bensalem, PA/Father Judge) recorded a time of 2:05.29 to place second in the 200 IM, while Andrew Donachy (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) came in third in the 500 freestyle (5:06.06).

Christine DiRubbo (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), Alicia Mackleer (so. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), Janina Wojcik (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) and Aileen Milde (jr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:45.52. Stephanie McAllister (fr. Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Reg.), DiRubbo, Wojcik and Mackleer placed second in the 200 medley relay (1:55.69). McAllister won the 100 backstroke (1:03.20) and she came in second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.44). Ashley Gagnon (fr. South Amboy, NJ/Middlesex County Academy) took first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.73 and she finished second in the 200 freestyle (2:03.55). Mackleer and Milde placed second and third in the 50 freestyle in 26.04 and 26.27, respectively. Samantha King (fr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) came in second in the 100 backstroke (1:03.95) and Becky Goldberg (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:33.24).

In the evening session, Christopher Sykes (sr. Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley Reg.), Baker, Wallace and Nick Giacopelli (sr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) won the 400 medley relay in 3:43.63. Baker also placed first in the 400 IM (4:19.26) and second in the 100 freestyle (49.04). Williams finished first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.01. He also led off the 200 freestyle relay with Kevin Ovalle (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), Tucker and Spracklin. They finished second with a time of 1:30.55. Donachy placed second in the 1000 freestyle in 10:47.79.

The women’s 200 freestyle relay won with a time of 1:42.42. The relay consisted of King, Mackleer, Wojcik, and DiRubbo. Caitlin Ayres (sr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) won the 400 IM (4:55.61) and 200 butterfly (2:13.93). Gagnon placed third in the 200 butterfly in 2:17.85.
McAllister finished first in the 200 backstroke in 2:17.33. Meghan McCourt (fr. Wenonah, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) swam to a first place finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:31.47 with King following second (2:33.93). Wojcik took third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.61.

Rowan hosts Washington and Lee University on Sunday, November 19 at noon.
