Geisinger Takes 101st At NCAA Championships

WEST CHESTER, OH – Rowan University’s Erik Geisinger finished 101st at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The national championships were held at Voice of America Park.

Geisinger (sr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) had a time of 28:32 on the 8,000 meter course. There were a total of 279 runners that competed at the NCAA Championships and 32 teams. Widener University’s Macharia Yuot was the individual champion with a winning time of 26:31. Calvin College won the team title with 37 points.

Geisinger qualified for nationals by finishing 24th (26:30.8) at the NCAA Atlantic Regional (Nov. 11). He was one of seven individuals that advanced from the regional to the national championships. He was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region team.

This season, Geisinger was the Profs’ top finisher at every meet. He won the individual title at the Mid-Atlantic Classic (Oct. 7) in 28:36.49. Geisinger took third place (26:52.74) at the Collegiate Track Conference Championships (Oct. 14). He was also fourth at the Paul Short Invitational (Sept. 29) and the Hofstra Invitational (Sept. 9) with times of 26:08 and 16:10.69 (5,000 meters) respectively.

At the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships (Oct. 28), Geisinger came in fourth with a time of 26:00.51. He earned his third straight NJAC All-Conference first team honor and fourth overall. His freshman year, Geisinger was a member of the All-Conference second team.
