Men's Cross Country Wins Mid-Atlantic Classic; Women Take Sixth

BALTIMORE, MD – The Rowan University men’s cross country team took first place at the Mid-Atlantic Classic on Saturday that was held at Goucher College. Erik Geisinger won the individual men’s title.

The Rowan women finished in sixth place. Nine schools competed in both of the races. The men’s course was a distance of 8,000 meters while the women’s was 6,000 meters.

Geisinger (sr. Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) had a winning time of 28:36.49. Mike Rivera (so. Old Tappan, NJ/Northern Valley) came in third (29:24.99) while James Buinicky (fr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade), Greg Kuczynski (so. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) and Andrew Vasta (so. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) finished fifth (29:31.74), sixth (29:33.41) and seventh (29:39.99) respectively.

Laura Blittman (fr. Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) was Rowan’s top runner in 15th place. Blittman had a time of 27:33.82. Katelyn Sammon (jr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) took 18th (27:44.33) while Therese Jones (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) was 29th (28:42.28). Also scoring were Laura O’Mara (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) 34th (29:01.46) and Jennifer Lippincott (fr. Magnolia, NJ/Gloucester) 37th (29:13.27).

On Saturday, October 14, Rowan travels to DeSales University for the Collegiate Track Conference Championships at 11 a.m.
