Rowan Falls To TCNJ In Overtime, 1-0

GLASSBORO, NJ – Back Meg Hess scored the winning goal for The College of New Jersey in a 1-0 overtime victory against conference opponent Rowan University.

Hess (sr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) recorded the game winner with 7:33 left in the first overtime period. She scored on a rebound and hit the left side of the Profs’ net. It was Hess’ first goal of the season.

TCNJ is undefeated with an 8-0 record and is ranked number one in this week’s National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Coaches Poll. Rowan, ranked 10th, is 6-4 on the season. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference, the Lions have a 2-0 mark while the Profs are 1-1.

TCNJ totaled 17 shots and Rowan took 12. Lions goalie Erin Mitschke (sr. Booton Twp., NJ/Mountain Lakes) made five saves for her second shutout. For the Profs, goalie Amanda Cucinotti (jr. Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) stopped 13 shots.

Rowan is home again on Saturday, October 7 against Catholic University at 1 p.m. TCNJ hosts Susquehanna University on Wednesday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m.
