MADISON, NJ – Forwards Amanda Green and Rachel Cheafsky each scored two goals to lead the Rowan University field hockey team to an 8-2 win over nonconference opponent Drew University on Thursday.

Cheafsky (jr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) put Rowan ahead 1-0 at 8:11 in the first period. Greene (so. Thorofare, NJ/Gloucester) assisted on the goal. Just over a minute later, Drew forward Jen Schoepflin (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) tied the game and forward Nicole Battista (fr. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Mem.) got the assist. At 15:21, forward Danielle Miranda (jr. Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) knocked in a pass from back Erin Tideman (jr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) to give the Profs the lead for good. Greene added a goal at 30:24 off a pass from Tideman for a 3-1 halftime advantage.

In the second period, Greene put back a feed from midfielder Kimberly Brozosky (so. Richwood, NJ/Clearview Reg.) at 36:33. Just under four minutes later, Cheafsky had her second goal and midfielder Susan Massara (jr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) earned the assist. Massara had a goal at 45:04 and Greene picked up the assist. Drew forward Whitney Kerns (jr. Doylestown, PA/Germantown Academy) knocked in a pass from Schoepflin at 45:46 to make the score, 6-2. Rowan added goals from forwards Leia D’Amboise (so. Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) at 47:28 and Katelynn Hughes (fr. Rosenhayn, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) at 55:40. Forward Kiley Graham (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) assisted on both goals.

Rowan outshot Drew, 29-6. Goalie Amanda Cucinotti (jr. Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) made three saves for the Profs. Goalie Stef Rutkowski (fr. Wilmington, DE/Tower Hill) stopped nine shots for the Rangers.

With the win, Rowan improves to 12-4 on the season, while Drew falls to 3-12. Rowan hosts New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponent Ramapo College in its last home game of the regular season on Saturday, October 28 at 1 p.m.
