TCNJ Rolls Over Rowan, 4-0

EWING, NJ – The College of New Jersey women’s soccer team ended the regular season with a 4-0 win over conference opponent Rowan University on Wednesday night.

TCNJ, ranked eighth in the nation and second in the region, is 13-1-2 overall and an 8-0-1 in the NJAC. Rowan has an overall record of 13-2-2 and a 5-2-2 conference mark. The Lions are the number one seed in the conference tournament while Rowan is the fourth seed.

TCNJ had a 3-0 lead after the first half. Back Courtney Krol (jr. Howell, NJ/Howell) made the first goal on a penalty kick at the 36 second mark. Forward Danielle DiBruno (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) had the second at 20:51 with a feed from forward Jamie Kunkel (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.). Krol assisted on the third goal by midfielder Coleen Weber (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.).

In the final period, forward Christine Mullin (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) had the last goal (66:29) with an assist from DiBruno. The Lions outshot the Profs, 33-0. Rowan goalie Melissa Hall (so. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) recorded 12 saves.

The top six teams in the conference advance to the NJAC Championship Tournament that starts on Saturday, October 28. The first and second place teams receive a first round bye. Montclair State University is the second place team. The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, November 1 and the final is on Saturday, November 4. The NJAC champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

In the first round, Rowan will host the fifth seed Kean University on Saturday at 5 p.m. while the sixth seed William Paterson travels to number three Richard Stockton College.
