GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team battled to a scoreless tie against conference opponent Montclair State University on Monday night.
It was the second straight year that the game between the two teams ended 0-0 after two overtimes. Rowan has an overall record of 9-0-2 and a 3-0-2 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). Montclair State is 8-2-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in the NJAC.
The Profs totaled 23 shots while the Red Hawks took 14. In overtime, Rowan outshot MSU, 7-3. In the Red Hawks’ goal, Kristin Kuhmann (sr. Beachwood, NJ/Toms River S.) recorded 21 saves. Kuhmann is this week’s NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree. For Rowan, goalie Gabby Ditchey (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) made nine saves.
In the conference standings, Rowan is one point ahead of The College of New Jersey, Richard Stockton and Montclair State who are all tied for second place with 10 points. The top six teams advance to the conference championship tournament and the winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Rowan is home again on Wednesday, October 4 against Salisbury University at 5 p.m. Montclair State’s next game is at Flager College in West Palm Beach, FL on Saturday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
