NYU Hands Rowan 2-0 Loss

GLASSBORO, NJ – The 23rd ranked New York University men’s soccer team defeated Rowan University, 2-0 on Wednesday night in a non-conference game.

Midfielder Max Sachar (sr. San Francisco, CA/Lick-Wilmerding) scored at 6:28 when he struck a bouncing ball from 30 yards out into the top corner of the goal. The goal was his eighth of the season. At 86:13, midfielder Robert Keller (so. East Lyme, CT/East Lyme) slipped a shot past Rowan goalkeeper Anthony Clemente (sr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) to put the game away. Forward Antonio Trillo (so. Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) assisted on the goal.

NYU took 15 shots while Rowan had 10. Violets’ goalkeeper Chris Wright (so. Colchester, CT/Xavier) made four saves for his ninth shutout. Goalie Brian Lloyd (sr. Swainton, NJ/Middle Twp.) started the game for the Profs and collected four saves in the first half. Clemente had three saves after he entered the game at the start of the second half.

The victory improves NYU to 13-1 on the year. Rowan’s record is 8-7-2. In the Metro Region, the Violets are ranked third and the Profs are 10th.

Rowan plays its final home game of the regular season against conference opponent Kean University on Saturday, October 21, at 7 p.m.
