GLASSBORO, NJ – Forward Karen Patruno scored two goals to lead Rowan University to a 4-0 win over New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponent Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.

The Profs improve to 13-0-2 overall and 5-0-2 in the NJAC. The Scarlet Raiders have a 6-8 record and a 2-5 mark in the conference.

After a scoreless first half, Patruno (sr. Somerdale, NJ/Paul VI) had an unassisted goal at 52:38 to put the Profs ahead 1-0. At 59:56, midfielder Jamie Weist (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) headed in a loose ball for Rowan’s second score. Patruno had her second goal at 82:43 and midfielder Krista Verzi (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran) found the net at 86:25 for the final goal of the game.

Rowan outshot Rutgers-Newark, 20-5. Goalie Gabrielle Ditchey (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Reg.) made four saves for her second shutout of the season. Goalie Katie Hastings (jr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) stopped eight shots for the Scarlet Raiders.

Rowan travels to Kean University on Saturday, October 21 for a 7 p.m. NJAC game.
