Miranda Leads Rowan Past Montclair, 2-1

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Forward Danielle Miranda scored two goals to lead 13th ranked Rowan University to a 2-1 victory over sixth ranked Montclair State University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday.

With the win, the Profs improve to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC. The Red Hawks have a 9-3 record and a 2-2 conference mark.

Montclair State took a 1-0 lead after an unassisted goal on a breakaway by forward Jennifer Tanis (jr. Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp.). At 56:03, Miranda (jr. Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) had an unassisted goal to tie the game. Just over a minute later, Miranda knocked in a penalty corner off a pass from midfielder Susan Massara (jr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton).

Rowan outshot Montclair State, 16-5. Profs’ goalie Amanda Cucinotti (jr. Voorhees, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) made two saves. Goalie Jacquie Supko (fr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) stopped nine shots for the Red Hawks.

Rowan hosts Eastern University in a nonconference game on Tuesday, October 17 at 7 p.m.
