GLASSBORO, NJ – The Montclair State University women’s volleyball team defeated Rowan University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on Thursday. The host Red Hawks won with game scores of 32-30, 30-18, and 30-21.

Outside hitters Alexis Louie (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Karen Ramirez (fr. Bogota, NJ/Bogota) led the Profs with six kills each. They added five and seven digs, respectively. Setter Chrissy McKay (fr. Paramus, NJ/Paramus) recorded nine assists and seven digs. Rowan has an overall record of 6-12 and is 2-4 in the NJAC.

Heather Aciz (sr. Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) had 21 kills, including the 1000th of her career, to lead Montclair State. Aciz became only the second player in school history to reach the milestone. Karen Martin (fr. Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Twp.) contributed eight kills and 15 digs. Elyse Grywalski (sr. Mount Olive, NJ/Mount Olive) posted 22 assists and Raisa Silva (fr. Newark, NJ/East Side) added 21. The victory improves the Red Hawks record to 9-16 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

Rowan’s next match is against conference opponent Ramapo College on Tuesday, October 17.
