Kyle Hayes (fr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) finished fourth in the long jump at the New Balance New York City Qualifying Challenge (May 10). Hayes recorded a distance of 24’ 0.75” (7.33 meters), which was better than the NCAA automatic qualifier (23’ 11.5”, 7.30 meters). His leap is the second best in Division III this season. The first through third places in the long jump were by unattached competitors. He was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie Athlete of the Week for the third time this year. Hayes will compete in the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships on Thursday-Saturday, May 22-24 at J.J. Keller Field in Oshkosh, WI.
