Demetrius Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) turned in excellent performances at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet (May 14) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships (May 17-18). At the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet, he won the 400 meter hurdles in 52.44. Rooks anchored the first place 4x400 meter relay that produced a season best time of 3:12.94. The relay has the eighth fastest time in the NCAA Division III. At the ECAC Championships, Rooks captured first in the 400 meter hurdles in 51.76, which is a career best. His time ranks third in the country. The 4x400 meter relay had a winning time of 3:14.73. Rooks will compete in the 400 meter hurdles and 4x400 meter relay at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Claremont, CA on Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26.
