Demetrius Rooks (so. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) guided the men’s track and field team to a second place finish at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships (May 7). Rooks took first place in the 400 meters with a time of 52.63. He broke the conference championship record (52.64). Rook’s time was also better than the NCAA automatic qualifier (52.65). He currently has the fifth fastest time in Division III this season. Rooks also won the 400 meters in 48.19, which was a NCAA provisional (48.50). He ran the final leg of the Profs’ first place (3:15.40) 4x400 meter relay that recorded a NCAA provisional (3:16.40). For his performance, Rooks was named the NJAC Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this year.
