Steven Iafrate (fr. Closter, NJ/Demarest) took ninth place in the javelin at the Wake Forest Open (Mar. 18). He recorded a throw of 197’ 6” (60.21 meters), which was better than the NCAA provisional (193’ 3”, 58.90 meters). Iafrate also topped the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifier (179’ 1”, 54.60 meters). He currently has the fourth best throw in Division III in the javelin. For his performance, Iafrate was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie of the Week.
