NEWVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men’s cross country team took second place in the short course race at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday. The women had a third place in the long course and they were fifth in the short course. The Rowan women finished fourth overall in the combined team scoring.

The top three runners counted in the team scoring. The men’s short course race was 4000 meters. Rowan had a final score of 30 points behind first place Dickinson College with nine. There were 22 schools in the men’s short course.

Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) took fifth in 12:43 and Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) had an eighth place with a time of 12:48. The third runner to score was Michael Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) who was 17th (13:05). Stephen Mennitt (jr. Edison, NJ/Edison) finished 23rd (13:12) and Jake McCormack (sr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) was 29th (13:24).

The women’s long course race was 6000 meters and the short course was 4000 meters. In the long course, Rowan totaled 34 points. Johns Hopkins University was first (25) followed by Haverford College, second (27). The women had 47 points in the short course race. Dickinson took first place (26) followed by Muhlenberg College second (31), Johns Hopkins third (41) and Haverford fourth (44). There were 21 teams in the long course and 23 in the short course.

Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was the Profs’ first runner to score in the long course. She took third with a time of 23:06. Sammar Abueldoleh (fr. Sewell, NJ/WashingtonTwp.) finished 13th (24:04) and Meghan Borz (so. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) was 18th (24:40). Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) came in 19th (24:43) and Joy Hanke (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) had a 21st place (24:48).

In the short course, Catherine Nolan (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) finished eighth in 16:02. Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) and Samantha Stapleton (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) were 17th (16:19) and 22nd (16:30) respectively. Brenda Mendez (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) took 31st (16:52) and Angelina Bongiovanni (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) was 34th (16:57).

Rowan travels to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Run on Friday, September 30. The men will run in the brown race at 12:15 p.m. and the women follow at 1 p.m. in the brown race.
