WINNECONNE, WI – The Rowan University women’s cross country team took 26th place at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday. Jena Peacock came in 19th overall for All-America honors and Eric DuBois finished 67th. The national championships were held at the Lake Breeze Golf Course.
Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) ran 21:27.31 over the 6K course. It was her third straight appearance at the NCAA Championships. In 2010, she was an All-American, finishing 18th (21:34.2). She placed second at this year’s NCAA Atlantic Regional with a time of 21:52.5. Peacock earned her third United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Region Team honor.
DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) finished with a time of 25:03.10 in the 8K race. It was a career best and topped his time of 25:06.7 at last year’s nationals. He qualified for the NCAA Championships with a fifth place (25:21.5) at the NCAA Atlantic Regional. He received his third straight USTFCCCA All-Region honor. He was the top individual qualifier from the NCAA Atlantic Region.
Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) was the women’s second runner to cross the finish line. She was 118th overall with a time of 22:25.17. Joy Hanke (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) came in 166th (22:42.11) while Sammar Abueldoleh (fr. Sewell, NJWashington Twp.) was 199th (23:04.75). The Profs’ fifth runner to score was Catherine Nolan (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) who was 252nd (23:45.75). Angelina Bongiovanni (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) took 274th (24:56.97).
The Rowan women were one of 16 schools that were selected at-large. There were 16 teams, the top two from eight regions, that qualified on Saturday (Nov. 12) at the NCAA Regionals. The Profs finished in fourth place at the NCAA Atlantic Regional.
The women’s championship was won by the University of Washington in St. Louis with 70 points. Williams College’s Chiara Del Piccolo was the women’s individual champion in 20:52.08. North Central College (IL) captured the men’s championship with 110 points. Ben Sathre from the University of St. Thomas (MN) was the men’s winner in 23:44.27.
