PHILADELPHIA, PA – Rowan University forward Amanda Jennings was honored as the Sam Cozen Player of the Week at the Philadelphia Area Small College Basketball Luncheon on Tuesday, February 9. The event was held at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
Jennings (sr. Turnersville, NJ/Washington Twp.) received the award after a huge week for the Profs’ women’s basketball team. In four games, she averaged 22.8 points (ppg) and 11.8 rebounds per game (rpg). She also totaled 17 assists, eight blocks and eight steals, while shooting .607 from the floor and .708 from the free throw line. For her performance, Jennings was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Player of the Week.
At Rutgers-Camden (Jan. 27), she compiled 30 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots. Jennings followed that up with career-highs of 33 points and 22 rebounds against William Paterson University (Jan. 30). Versus Salisbury University (Feb. 1), she posted 22 points, six rebounds, four blocks, four steals and three assists. Jennings finished the week with six points, six rebounds and five assists against The College of New Jersey (Feb. 3).
This season, Jennings is averaging 19.5 ppg which is first in the conference. She ranks first in the NJAC in field goal percentage (.596), second in blocked shots (1.52), fourth in rebounding (10.2) and free throw percentage (.775) and 17th in assists (2.10). She is tied for sixth with 2.48 steals per game. She has been selected the NJAC Player of the Week three times and collected ECAC Metro Player of the Week honors twice.
Rowan is 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the conference.
