Women's Basketball Holds "Think Pink Day"
GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s basketball team will hold its annual “Think Pink Day” on Wednesday, February 17. The women play conference opponent Rutgers-Camden at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m.
This year, the women’s basketball team will donate the proceeds to the Kay Yow/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Cancer Fund. The organization was founded in 2007 in partnership with The V Foundation for Cancer Research, to raise money in the fight against women’s cancers. The late Kay Yow was the former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach and past president of the WBCA. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and later passed away on January 24, 2009 after her third bout with the disease.
Fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing pink to the games. The women’s basketball players are selling pink t-shirts for $10. During the doubleheader, raffle tickets will be on sale to win bicycles, Rowan gear, cool Coke items and Philadelphia Flyers tickets.
