CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team
GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan University diver Bryan Carlisle was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men’s At-Large second team.
It marks Carlisle’s second straight Academic All-America honor. He advanced to the national ballot after being selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II first team. To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA) and be a starter or significant reserve. The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
A team captain, Carlisle (sr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) is an eight-time NCAA Division III All-American. This year, he took second place on the one meter board (518.20 points) and sixth in the three meter diving (478.40 points) at the NCAA Division III Championships for All-America in both events. In 2008, Carlisle came in third place in the one meter diving (451.20 points) and fifth in the three meter (458.45 points) for All-America honors in both events. In 2007, Carlisle finished fifth in the three meter diving (463.10 points) to earn All-America. He also took 13th in the one meter (397.55 points) for All-America honorable mention. Carlisle captured 14th and 15th in the one (401.50 points) and three meter diving (382.80 points) respectively to receive All-America honorable mention in 2006.
This season, Carlisle was chosen the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Diver of the Year and earned Diver of the Week honors four times. He collected NJAC All-Conference first team honors in both the one and three meter diving. Carlisle was selected the Philadelphia Inquirer Performer of the Year and to the Academic All-Area Team for the third consecutive year. He received the University’s Wackar Award, which is given to a senior male athlete who has participated in two years of varsity sports and has demonstrated outstanding athletic achievement, leadership and attitude.
