WAYNE, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming and diving team won 184-51 at William Paterson University on Friday evening.
The Profs are 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The 200 medley relay of Gabby Gligor (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee), Emily Kopchick (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Antonia Simunek (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) and
Polina Dineva (sr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) had a winning time of 1:55.50. The 200 freestyle relay touched first in 1:44.02 with Bianca Karpinski (so. Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown), Gligor, Abigail Brous (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and Simunek.
Alex Bambrick (so. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) took first place in the 1000 freestyle (11.21.81) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.96). Veronica Alferez (fr. Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Mem.) came in first (2:02.12) in the 200 freestyle and second (1:04.07) in the 100 backstroke. Brous had a first place (26.47) in the 50 free and Megan Miller (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) won (56.82) the 100 freestyle. Karpinski was the winner (5:45.97) in the 500 freestyle. She also had a third place (27.01) in the 50 free.
Miranda Coughlan (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearviwe Reg.) finished first (1:04.85) in the 100 butterfly while Simunek and Dineva were second (1:05.55) and third (1:06.06) respectively. Elizabeth O'Brien (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) swam 2:20.03 in the 200 individual medley for first place followed by Kopchick, second (2:27.30) and
Cayleigh McCusker (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit), third (2:29.34). McCusker was second (1:16.02) in the 100 breaststroke and Dineva had a third place (1:17.12).
Klaudia Rzotkiewicz (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was the winner in the one-meter diving with 207.80 points. She also took second (190.40) on the three-meter board. Corinne Finkbinder (so. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) won (203.70) the three-meter diving and she was second in the one-meter (203.60).
Claire McKissick (so. Ellicott City, MD/Archbishop Spalding) took second (59.07) in the 100 free and
Amanda Burke (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) had a second place (5:51.39) in the 500 freestyle. In the 200 free, Carlee Timmins (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) came in second (2:03.11) and Gligor was third (2:09.17). Emily LaBenski (so. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.) finished third (1:05.74) in the 100 backstroke.
Next, Rowan hosts Ramapo College on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. The divers will compete against West Chester University at 4:30 p.m.
