Rowan University Athletics

An All-American, Dempsey lettered for the soccer team four straight years and served as co-captain for three. He was selected to the All-Conference first team all four years and was the conference’s player of the year three times. Dempsey also received All-State and All-Region honors. He was a member of the 1981 NCAA Championship team and received the Albert F. White Award his senior year. He also received the Evelyn M. Reade Excellence in Health and Physical Education Award.
               
In addition, he served as president and vice president of the men’s athletic association and was a member of the Gamma Tau Sigma Honor Society. Dempsey graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education. After his collegiate career, he had three tryouts with professional soccer teams.
