Takiyah Bowen Dumas is one of the top scorers and rebounders in women’s basketball history and was a key player for the Profs during a period of great success for the program in which Rowan compiled a 100-14 record.
A four-year starter, she currently ranks fifth on Rowan’s all-time scoring list with 1,290 career points and owns the program’s third highest total of rebounds with 896. Bowen Dumas held the school record for rebounds in a season with 352 in 1997-98, which stood until the 2022-23 season of Rowan basketball, while she continues to own the mark for rebounds in a game with 25.
Bowen Dumas, originally from Newfield, NJ, received WBCA All-America Honorable Mention in 1998 averaging 14.8 points and 11.4 rebounds as Rowan went 27-4 and reached the NCAA Semifinals. The leading rebounder in the NJAC, she was named to the ECAC Metro NY-NJ Region All-Star First Team and to the NCAA East Atlantic Sectional All-Tournament Team, while earning All-Conference First Team honors.
That performance marked a return from a knee injury, which ended her junior year early. She had 15.2 points and 9.0 rebounds in 14 games as Rowan captured its second straight conference title. She was an All-Conference First Team selection in 1996 as a sophomore, scoring 12.8 points per game for the NJAC Champion squad which advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.
