Penny Kempf coached the field hockey team for 17 years (1998 to 2014) and led the Profs to the NCAA Division III Championship in 2002, marking the first national title in Rowan women’s athletics.
That squad went undefeated with a 21-0 record, while she compiled a 253-81 record during her 17 seasons, which ranks her among the winningest coaches in NCAA Division III field hockey (75.7 winning percentage).
She led Rowan to their first NJAC title in 1998, and the Profs would go on to win five more (2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2009) while the program made 12 trips to the NCAA Tournament.
A three-time NJAC Coach of the Year (1998, 2002, 2009), Kemp was named the national Coach of the Year by the NFHCA in 2002, as well as earning the South Atlantic Region’s honor.
