The 1990 men’s soccer team had a final record of 20-3-2 and won the program’s second national championship. The Profs captured the national title, 2-1 after four overtimes and penalty kicks against Ohio Wesleyan University. They shutout Salem State University, 2-0 in the semifinals and advanced from the quarterfinals on penalty kicks versus Bethany College, 1-0. The men’s soccer team defeated Kean University, 1-0 in the second round and Montclair State University, 4-1 in the tournament opener.
Against Ohio Wesleyan, Andy Logar scored with a header in the first half and Bill O’Neill assisted. The Profs won the penalty kicks, 4-3. Mat Santoro, Rich Buckley, Scott Baker and Dan Isidor all had one. Jeff McManus was in goal and recorded 15 saves. George Tittlemayer took over in net and stopped the Battling Bishops’ second and fifth penalty kicks. His last stop setup the winning boot by Isidor.
John Kennedy and Carl Lindmark each scored a goal in the 2-0 victory against Salem State.
