Ransome competed in the 400 meters and on the 4x400 meter relay for the outdoor track & field team.  During his four-year career (1988-91), he earned All-America honors seven times.  His senior year, Ransome finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 47.85 and was a member of the third place 4x400 meter relay (3:13.73).  At the 1990 NCAA Championships, he came in second (47.27) in the 400 meters and the 4x400 meter relay was fourth in 3:14.50.  

Ransome was also a member of the All-America 4x400 meter relays in 1989 (sixth, 3:14.81) and 1988 (fourth, 3:13.99).  In 1989, he was an All-American in the 400 meters with a a fourth place in 47.83.  Ransome still has the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 46.19 in 1990.  He was the 1989 and 1990 conference champion in the 400 meters and on the 4x100 meter relay. 

A 1994 graduate, Ransome is an insurance investigator for Photofax.
