Charlie Atkinson was a two-sport athlete, playing for the Profs’ baseball team for four years (1967-71) and the basketball team for three seasons (1967-1970). 

He was an NAIA All-American in 1970, while helping the Profs to the NJSAC titles in 1968, 1970 and 1971, and NAIA World Series berths in both 1968 and 1969. A team captain for two years, Atkinson was named the Profs’ Most Valuable Player in both his junior and senior seasons.

On the court, Atkinson totaled 582 points and 278 rebounds in 53 career games. In 1971, he was named the Student-Athlete of the Year.

Atkinson graduated in 1971 and earned his master’s degree from Glassboro State in 1973. He later received a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University in 1989.
