Softball Hosts Moravian In NCAA Super Regional

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University softball team hosts Moravian College in the NCAA Super Regional on Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19.
 
On Friday, the Profs (37-11-1) play the Greyhounds (36-6) at 1 p.m.  The second contest is scheduled for noon on Saturday.  The if necessary game of the double elimination tournament will follow at 2:30 p.m.
 
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and veterans and $5 for students and children.  Children age two and under are free.  Rowan IDs and athletic passes are not accepted for postseason tournaments.
 
The winner of the Super Regional advances to the NCAA Championship Tournament that is slated for Thursday-Tuesday, May 24-29 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, OK.  
 
The Profs are in the Super Regional after defeating Randolph-Macon College, 7-1 and 2-1 on Monday.  Rowan started the Glassboro Regional with a 3-2 loss against Penn State Berks.  The Profs then had wins over the College of Staten Island, 13-0 (5 inn.) and Penn State Berks, 8-0.
 
Rowan received an automatic bid to the national tournament as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Champion.  It is the Profs' 26thappearance and eighth straight in the NCAA postseason.  Rowan has advanced to the national finals five times and finished tied for third in 2016 and fourth in 1994 and 1993.
 
Moravian advanced to the Super Regional after winning the Ewing Regional.  The Greyhounds swept Salisbury University, 3-0 and 9-1 (6 inn.) on Monday.  Moravian had a 3-2 loss in eight innings to Salisbury in the opening round.  The Greyhounds then defeated The College of New Jersey, 4-2 and Johnson and Wales University, 4-0.  
 
This is Moravian's 17thtrip to the NCAA postseason.  The Greyhounds won the Landmark Conference Championship and earned an automatic berth. Moravian took second place at the 2004 national championship.
