Men's Soccer To Host First And Second Rounds Of NCAA Division III Championship Tournament

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's soccer team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and will host the first and second rounds on Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 12-13.
 
The Profs (16-2-1) will face Lehman College in the first round on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Lightning are 10-3-3 and captured the City University of New York Athletic Conference title. It is Lehman's second appearance in the national tournament and first since 2011.
 
Rowan earned its second straight at-large selection after finishing as the New Jersey Athletic Conference runner-up. It is the Profs' 26th appearance in the NCAA playoffs. Rowan has won two National Championships (1981 and 1990), finished second twice and third three times.
 
Tufts University (9-5-2) and Springfield College (18-1-1) square off in the other first round contest on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Jumbos received an at-large bid and are in the tournament for the third straight season and sixth overall. The Pride were the champions of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference and are making their third appearance, the first since 2011. Springfield's 18 victories is a school record.
 
The two first-round winners meet in the second round on Sunday at 5 p.m. with the victor advancing to the sectional. Ticket prices for all games are $6 for general admission, $3 for students and senior citizens and $2 for children ages 3-12. Children age 2 and under are free when accompanied by a paid adult.
 
This year, Rowan played six teams (Franklin & Marshall College, Kean University, Montclair State University, Rutgers-Newark, SUNY Oneonta and Washington and Lee University) that were selected to the NCAA Tournament.
