Men's Soccer Records 6-0 Shutout Over John Jay

Box Score NEW YORK, NY – Rowan University scored two goals in the first half and four in the second, in a 6-0 shutout over John Jay College on Saturday afternoon. Rowan is now 4-2 on the season, while John Jay drop to 0-6 overall.  

Forward Dylan Smith (sr., Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored two goals and had two assists, while midfielder Shane Kohler (jr., Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) and forward Lugi Buffolino (fr., Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) each had two goals and an assist.  Goalie Ryan Gill (sr., West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) made three saves to earn the shutout.

Smith started the scoring at 5:04 as he beat the goalie off an assist from Buffolino. Smith scored again in the 38th minute with an assist from  Kohler.

Just over a minute into the second half, Buffolino tallied his first goal, putting it past the keeper after a pass from Kohler. Buffolino scored his second, 10 minutes later, and midfielder Andrew Schlegel (so., Reading, PA/Wyomissing) had the assist. At 70:19, Kohler scored from eight yards out. His goal was assisted by back Nick Bolton (jr., Dover, DE/Dover) and forward Vinny Ignatowicz (fr., Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.). Kohler then completed the scoring in the 90th minute as he headed the ball in off a free kick from Smith.

Rowan plays at home on Wednesday, Setpember 18 against Arcadia University at 7 p.m.
