TROY, NY – The Rowan University men’s track & field team took second place at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Friday. Demetrius Rooks won the 400 meter hurdles. The two-day championships were held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) ran a winning time of 51.76, which was a career best. His time is currently second among the NCAA Division III top performances. The Profs finished with 49 points among 63 schools in the team scoring. Bates College won the ECAC title with 61 points.
The 4x100 meter relay came in second (41.75). The relay consisted of Brandon Taylor (jr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), Jayce Maxwell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Marcus Rawls (fr. North Brunswick, NJ/Florence Twp. Mem.) and Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro). Ejaz finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.61. Mike Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) had a 14th place (1:54.80) in the 800 meters.
The final participant list for the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be released on Sunday, May 20 at 9 a.m. This year’s nationals are scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26 at Burns Stadium in Claremont, CA.
