Rowan Women Finish Second at Frank Colden Indoor Track Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University women’s indoor track team took second place at the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday.  Ursinus College hosted the invitational meet that included 10 teams.

Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) won the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.08 and she qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships (8.10).  Beckford had a second place in the triple jump (33’ 10.25”, 10.32 meters).  Jessica Carlson (so. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) was the winner in the triple jump with a leap of 35’ 4.50” (10.78 meters).  She also came in second (9.69) in the 60 meter hurdles. 

The 4x400 meter relay ran 4:17.57 and was second.  The relay consisted of Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Kristen Prendergast (fr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) and Kayla Leahey (so. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley).  Leahey captured second in the pole vault with a height of 10’ (3.05 meters).  Magan Kustera (so. West Depford, NJ/West Deptford) finished second in the high jump (5’ 0.25”, 1.53 meters) and was fifth in the long jump (14’ 4.50”, 4.38 meters). 

In the 5000 meters, Ashley White (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) came in second (19:49.06) followed by Brenda Mendez (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) third (20:05.31).  Brianna Streater and her sister Alexus were second (2:27.89) and third (2:29.40) respectively in the 800 meters.  Francesca Contino (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) was third (10.67) in the 60 meter hurdles.  She also took seventh (13’ 9.25”, 4.20 meters) in the long jump.  Jess Lomanaco (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) had a third place in the shot put with a throw of 34’ 9.75” (10.61 meters). 

Sam Kamper (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) tied for fourth (4’ 10.25”, 1.48 meters) in the high jump and Ana Kolbach (fr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) was fourth (8’ 6.25”, 2.60 meters) in the pole vault.  Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside) finished fifth (1:03.22) in the 400 meters and sixth (8.91) in the 60 meter dash.  In the shot put, Stephanie Greco (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) took seventh (31’ 9.50”, 9.69 meters) and Arielle Moore (so. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) was ninth (30’ 9”, 9.37 meters).  Christina Huynh (jr. Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) came in ninth (1:05.09) in the 400 meters followed by Prendergast 10th (1:05.30).  Beverlee Brownlee (jr. Mt. Holly, NJ/Willingboro) was 10th (28.99) in the 200 meters.

Next week, Rowan travels to Wesleyan College in Middletown, CT on Saturday, February 11 for the Collegiate Track Conference Championships that starts at 8 a.m.
