COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team won the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The invitational was held at Ursinus College.
The Profs totaled 124 points among 10 schools. Rowan won the 4x200 (1:34.57) and 4x400 (3:22.98) meter relays. The 4x200 included Phil Guilford (fr. Atlantic City, NJ/Buena Reg., Taylor Purdue (jr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Jayce Maxwell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) and Marcus Rawls (so. North Brunswick, NJ/Florence Twp. Mem.). The 4x400 relay’s time was an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships qualifier (3:26.50). Guilford, Maxwell, Purdue and Demetrius Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) were on the 4x400.
Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) was the winner in the 800 meters (2:01.21) and the one mile (4:22.70). Joe Mineo (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) came in first in the high jump with a height of 6’4” (1.93 meters). He qualified for the ECACs (1.93 meters). Jack Curry (so. Roosevelt, NJ/Hightstown) was the winner in the triple jump with 39’ 10” (12.14 meters). He also took third in the high jump (5’ 8”, 1.73 meters) and long jump (18’ 10”, 5.74 meters).
Adam Diekewicz (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) had a second place in the pole vault (13’ 5.25”, 4.10 meters). Frank Visconte (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) took second in the shot put (45’ 5”, 13.84 meters). Brandon Taylor (jr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) finished third (7.16) in the 60 meters and fourth (23.61) in the 200 meters. Purdue came in fifth in the 400 meters (52.47).
Rob Buzby (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) captured fourth (16:49.14) in the 5000 meters and Mike Davies (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) was sixth (16:55.89). In the one mile, Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) was fifth (4:35.99) followed by Ethan Wolmark (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) sixth (4:38.19). Mike Lewis (fr. Glen Mills, PA/Downingtown W.) and Dave Quimby (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) were fifth (2:02.61) and sixth (2:04.11) respectively in the 800 meters. Jeff Tauriello (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) finished ninth (4:43.65) in the one mile and Jesse Spector (fr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) was 10th (4:44.94). Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) took 11th (54.85) in the 400 meters.
Next week, Rowan travels to Wesleyan College in Middletown, CT on Saturday, February 11 for the Collegiate Track Conference Championships that starts at 8 a.m.
