Rowan Men Finish Fifth Place at Thomson Invitational

NEWARK, DE – The Rowan University men’s indoor track team finished fifth at the Thomson Invitational on Saturday.  The meet was held at the University of Delaware.  The Profs totaled 96 points and competed against 22 schools.

The Profs’ 4x400 meter relay had a winning time of 3:22.63, which was an ECAC qualifier (3:26.50).  The 4x400 was made up of Jayce Maxwell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Taylor Purdue (jr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) and Demetrius Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami).  Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick), Jesse Spector (fr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills), Mike Lewis (fr. Glen Mills, NJ/Dowingtown W.) and Mike Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) were on the 4x800 meter relay that won in 8:09.35.  

Rooks was the winner in the 400 meters (49.96) and qualified for the ECAC Championships (50.70).  DuBois ran a time of 4:22.33 in the one mile and came in first.  Carotenuto captured first (2:32.51) in the 1000 meters.  His time was better than the ECAC qualifier (2:34.50).  Ejaz took second (22.94) in the 200 meters.  Joe Mineo (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had a second place in the high jump with a leap 6’ 0.5” (1.84 meters). 

In the 400 meters, Purdue and Phil Guilford (fr. Atlantic City, NJ/Buena Reg.) were third (52.49) and fourth (52.96) respectively.  Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) came in fifth (4:26.43) in the one mile.  Jake McCormack (sr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) finished seventh (9:20.25) in the 3000 meters followed by Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) eighth (9:20.32).  Adam Diekewicz (so. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) took sixth place in the pole vault with 13’ 9.25” (4.20 meters).   

David Quimby (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) came in eighth (2:04.34) in the 800 meters and Spector was 11th (2:05.09).  Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Centra Reg.) took ninth (53.60) and 11th (23.79) in the 400 and 200 meters respectively.  Ethan Wolmark (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) finished ninth (4:35.99) in the one mile.  Jack Curry (so. Roosevelt, NJ/Hightstown) had a 10th place in the high jump with 5’ 8.5” (1.74 meters). 

Next week, Rowan travels to Ursinus College on Saturday, February 4 for the Frank Colden Invitational at 9 a.m.
