BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rowan University cross country teams ran at the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon. Vanessa Wright took first place and the women tied for third in the college brown race (6K) team scoring. The men finished 11th in the college brown race (8K).
Wright (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) registered a winning time of 21:40 against 384 runners. The Profs shared third place with Marist College, each with 158 points. Iona College captured first (125) followed by the University of Tampa (150). Rounding out the top five of 44 schools was College of the Holy Cross (195).
Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) came in 10th (22:07). Sammar Abueldoleh (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) finished 35th (23:05). Meghan Borz (so. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) and Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) were 52nd (23:17) and 60th (23:22) respectively.
Iona College won the men’s title in the brown race with 125 points. Binghamton University and Nebraska Wesleyan University were second (204) and third (294) respectively. Elizabethtown College took fourth (298) and Rider University was fifth (322). Rowan finished with 384 points. There were 46 institutions in the race.
Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) came in 32nd (26:19). Stephen Mennitt (jr. Edison, NJ/Edison) took 52nd (26:35) while Mike Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) was 81st (26:53). Also scoring were Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.), 96th (26:58) and Jake McCormack (sr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.), 123rd (27:10). There were 382 runners in the race.
Next week, Rowan will compete at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday, October 8 at 10:30 a.m.
