CENTER VALLEY, PA – The Rowan University cross country teams competed at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday. The women came in eighth among 23 schools and the men finished 11th out of 22 teams. Both the women and men ran in the blue race.
For the women, Kayla Warren (so. Gibbsboro, NJ/Eastern Reg.) was the first Prof to cross the finish line in 21st place. She had a time of 25:24.70 over the 6K course. Brenda Mendez (fr. Glassboro, NJ/Delsea Reg.) took 33rd (25:51.34) and Samantha Stapleton (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was 40th (26:04.19). Ashley White (jr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and Eileen O’Mara (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) were 60th (26:57.08) and 62nd (27:04.28) respectively.
The men’s top finisher was Jon Sewnig (fr. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) who was 37th with a time of 28:25.88 in the 8K race. Mike Lewis (fr. Glen Mills, PA/Downington W.) took 65th in 29:17.82. Rob Buzby (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in 69th (29:22.03) followed by Mike Davies (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) 70th (29:22.87). Also scoring was Dave Quimby (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) in 89th place (30:13.91).
Rowan travels next week to Liberty State Park in Jersey City on Saturday, October 15 for the Collegiate Track Conference Championships. The first race is at 11 a.m.
