GALLOWAY, NJ – The Rowan University men’s cross country team finished second at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Saturday. The Profs’ Rob Rawls won the individual title and earned NJAC Runner and Rookie of the Year. The championships was held at Richard Stockton College.
Rowan registered 36 points behind conference champion The College of New Jersey with 26. Richard Stockton College came in third (95) followed Rutgers-Camden, fourth (107) and Ramapo College, fifth (114). Rutgers-Newark took sixth place (189) and New Jersey City University was seventh (219).
Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) ran a winning time of 26:03.92 on the 8K course. Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) took third place in 26:16.82. Jake McCormack (sr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) finished eighth (26:26.19). Rowan’s fourth and fifth runners were Mike Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.), 10th (26:35.63) and Jeff Tauriello (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park), 14th (26:58.31).
Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) had a 20th place (27:15.09). Jon Sewnig (fr. Yardville, NJ/Notre Dame) came in 29th (27:42.66). Mike Lewis (fr. Glen Mills, PA/Downingtown W.) and Jesse Spector (fr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) were 41st (28:15.24) and 44th (28:21.58) respectively. Ethan Wolmark (so. Medford, NJ/Shawne) took 48th (28:30.16) followed by Timmy Reardon (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.), 49th (28:31.46).
Rob Buzby (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Mike Davies (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) were 54th (28:46.31) and 56th (29:00.11) respectively. Joe Mineo (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) finished 62nd (29:13.16) and Jim Smith (fr. Keyport, NJ/Matawan Reg.) was 69th (29:49.83). David Quimby (fr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) came in 73rd (29:59.69) followed by Raj Singh (fr. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills), 74th (30:19.99) and Jordan Fraction (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), 75th (30:29.60). Pat Rindt (sr. Aberdeen, NJ/Matawan Reg.) took 77th (30:46.61).
Rowan has a week off before the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Saturday, November 12 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY.
