JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Rowan University men and women’s cross country teams both won the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championships on Saturday.  The races were held at Liberty State Park.

It was the fourth straight year that the Rowan women captured the CTC title and the second consecutive for the men.  The women had a total of 22 points and they were first out of 15 teams.  The men scored 36 points and competed among 14 schools.

Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) was the women’s individual champion with a time of 18:35.29 over the 5K course.  It was her third CTC individual championship and second straight.  Vanessa Wright (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) followed in second place (18:35.97).  Sammar Abueldoleh (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) came in fourth (18:57.06) and Meghan Borz (so. Buena, NJ/Buena Reg.) finished sixth (19:14.05).  The fifth runner to score was Jenn Rawls (jr. Runnemede, NJ/Highlands Reg.) in ninth place (19:31.53).  Joy Hanke (jr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) and Catherine Nolan (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) were 11th (19:33.93) and 13th (19:43.12) respectively.

For the men, Rob Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Triton Reg.) took third place.  He ran a time of 26:40.88 in the 8K race.  Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) was fourth with a time of 26:47.76.  Jake McCormack (sr. Cliffwood, NJ/Matawan Reg.) finished eighth (27:08.64) followed by Stephen Mennitt (jr. Edison, NJ/Edison), ninth (27:14.03).  Michael Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) completed the Profs’ scoring with a 12th place finish (27:20.48).  Jeff Tauriello (so. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) was 16th (27:32.09) and Stephen Hoffman (sr. Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) came in 23rd (27:42.58).

Rowan has a week off before the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, October 29 at Richard Stockton College.  The championships start at 10:30 a.m.
